Hobbies and Interests
I am extremely passionate about healthy living and love to begin every day with a workout. I spend much of my time in the kitchen preparing plant-based meals and enjoy finding creative and delicious preparations for local and seasonal produce. I am a team member of the Melomanos Pechanga Dance Company; we perform Salsa and Bachata-style routines at festivals and competitions. As a long-time resident of California, I can never get enough sunshine. I find every occasion to be outdoors, and really enjoy spending time near the coast or exploring local shops and businesses.

Capstone Thesis: Promoting Community Wellness through Early Childhood Cooking Curricula

Masters Thesis work involved teaching cooking courses to K-8 elementary school students in the Del Mar Union School District. Classes are designed to introduce students to basic culinary skills and concepts, promote the use of new and exotic foods, and provide opportunities for youth to learn how to critique and adapt recipes. Masters thesis project: Measuring culinary literacy & developing nutrition life skills  in an afterschool program for grades 1-6, assessed student and family experiences with elementary school cooking curriculum. Project goals included promoting retention of nutrition knowledge and improving student engagement and experience.
