·         Complies with approved of nursing practices

·         Participates in activities to improve the quality of care.

·         Checks, monitors and records patient’s vital sign such as temperature, pulse rate, respiration and blood pressure

•     Checks, monitors and records patient’s blood sugar.

·         Ensures the safety, comfort and well-being of the patients and reports patient’s need to the nurse. Attends to needs of the patients.

·         Ensures the comfort and good personal hygiene of the patients under her/his care.

E.g. bed bath/shower bath, changing of clothes and bed sheets and tidiness of the room.

·         Assist in the transfer and positioning of non-ambulant patients.

·         Assists in the conduct of daily exercise for the patients.

·         Assists the RN to ensure patients take their medicine.

·         Assists in serving meals and drinks; and feeding residents

·         Perform NGT feeding for the patients.

·         Helps to maintain the Fluid and nutritional needs of the patients.

·         Keep incontinent patients clean and dry.

·         Maintains accurate documentation of care given.

·         Assists the nurse in nursing procedure and treatments for the patients

E.g. caring for patients with urinary catheter.

·         Assists in the admission and orientation of new patients.

·         Assists in organizing visits for patients to go for medical check-ups; arranges transport and accompanies patients to the hospital/polyclinic for follow up appointment.

·         Accompanies patients for their outing trips.

·         Alert nurses to emergency situations. Where necessary, take first responder actions to mitigate the emergency.

·         Work with nurses to maintain a safe and clean environment in the nursing home.

·         Perform night duty.

·         Carries out duties/procedures assigned by nurses.
