PERSONAL Summary

Perpetua is a highly sought after epidemiologist and independent national health strategist with over 40 years of experience advising and implementing public health policies across the African region. She spent the first half of her career training local Zimbabwean nurses and other health workers and contributing to formulation of national strategies from research conducted such as 2001 Zimbabwe Evaluation of Safe Injection Practices, the 1997 Zimbabwe MCH Survey and the 1996, 1997 and 2001 Zimbabwe low EPI coverage districts assessment. Notably, Perpetua participated in the Joint Evaluation of National Health Information and Surveillance System of Zimbabwe in 1999 and was the focal point responsible for the coordination of HIV sero-prevalence surveys in pregnant women in Zimbabwe and Organization of the Young Adult Survey (Behavioral Survey) in conjunction with Zim-CDC-AIDS Project and Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC).

 

The seasoned public health expert later became an independent consultant for the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) where she has spent the last 17 years contributing to the  formulation and implementation, monitoring and evaluation  of national health strategies in numerous countries across the African continent namely, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. During her time as an independent consultant Perpetua has facilitated over 100 training workshops in counting and lead several field teams for disease control and prevention.
