Work History

I have more than Three years Accountancy& Audit experience with Piyawardena Associates (Chartered Accountants) – July 2007 to Nov 2009, BDO Partners (Chartered Accountants) – Jan 2012 to June 2012. My experience includes many different sectors of industry and includes the following different areas of work.

 

Financial Reporting including Preparation of Consolidated Financial Statements, Auditing(External & Risk Advisory), HR, Taxation, IT & Business Communication, Project Coordinating, as well as Handling Physical Stock Verification.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experience Summary:

Accounting/Finance /Management Functions:

·        Preparing Monthly Management Reports including Variance Analysis, Ratio Analysis, Trend Analysis with Detailed Analytical Tools and Tables, Graphs & Charts & Ad-Hoc Reports as per management requirements

·        Handling General Ledger & Preparing Monthly & Annual  Financial Budgets, Event Budgets and Financial Statements (Monthly P& L with Supporting Reports)

·        Prepare Cash Flow Statements & Maintaining financial control over the company with the view of ensuring effective   & efficient cash flow status

·        Preparing Monthly Bank, Tax, Debtor & Creditor Reconciliations and performing all (online  & other) bank transactions (LC, TT, PO, Salary processing, cheque issuing, online transfers etc)

·        Raising Tax Invoices and Handling Income & Expenses, Purchases related matters (voucher raising & documentation) & performing Reconciliations

·        Maintain control over Petty cash Reimbursement System for Head Office & Branches

·        Maintaining & Updating Registers for Leases, Hire Purchases, Bank Loans and bank charges, Fixed Assets & Insurance

·        Review stock balances & levels regularly maintained by stores and timely performing verifications

·        Documentation on import purchases related matters and Prepare Computations on Custom duties, Import Costing for Pricing & Stock Valuation

·        Maintaining Control over debtors & creditors and prepare & update monthly Sales Analysis, Purchases Reports, Outstanding Register with age analysis

·        Prepare  Events, Staff Meals and Functions Costing Schedules

·        Carry on overall responsibility of the Finance & Accounts department

·        Checking & verifying Physical cash floats & cash sales randomly

·        Maintain control over safe Cash & cash deposits & regular update the register

·        Prepare Events , Projects Profitability Reports and EOT Valuation Reports

·        Preparation of Consolidated Financial Statements & Financial Statements

·        Utilize ERP System for Stock Item Creation & Coding System& Book Keeping

 

 

HR Functions:

 

·        Computation, Preparation and Processing monthly Payroll

·        Maintaining & Updating the employee personal files

·        EPF & ETF Registration, Preparation & Computation liabilities & contribution & deal with labour dept, Central Bank regarding EPF & ETF matters

·        Computation Director Remuneration, Allowances, PAYE& WHT Liabilities

·        Maintain proper company policy for Staff Loans, salary advances & Other Employee related benefits

·        Maintaining all necessary data bases & files related to HR Department

·        Providing necessary reports the mgt. Subject to the matters related to HR functions

 

Taxation Functions:

·        Preparation of VAT Schedules(Input VAT, Output VAT, SVAT, Exempted VAT) & computation of monthly final VAT & NBT liabilities

·        Preparation of VAT Reconciliations and quarterly VAT & NBT Summaries, filling quarterly VAT & NBT returns, making final quarterly payments to IRD & filing appropriate acknowledgment, copy of returns & remit. Forms

·        Deal with Department of Inland Revenue regarding VAT, NBT, SVAT, PAYE, WHT, ESC,INCOME TAX etc matters

·        Preparing & Sending monthly SVAT documents & worked with IRD Online System

·        Computation & Preparation PAYE& WHT Reports, T-9A schedules and  Pay Returns and Certificate of income tax deductions and send to department  timely

·        Computation & pay the liabilities on other specified other taxes(ESC, Business tax etc)

·         Prepare the corporate income tax returns and arrange the self assessment payments

·        Submit reports & informations required by Mgt. related to taxation functions

·        Good Knowledge in using applications of Quick Book, Tally & Accounting ERP Systems and Payroll System

 

 

Auditing Functions:

 

·    Leading  many Audit Assignments as the In-charge (External Assignments)

·    Auditing Revenue, Expenses and Balance sheet according to the SLAUS and ensure compliance to Accounting Standards (SLFRS), Companies Act & other Regulations.

·    Engage with  planning& implementing of Internal  Audit Assignments(Risk Advisory)Eg: Garment Industry, FMCG, Finance & Leasing etc sectors

·    Involving to book keeping Assignments of the Clients.

·    Experience in Annual Physical Stock Verification Assignments.

·    Computation of Companies, Partnerships, Personal Income Tax

·    Assessing the SVAT, VAT, N.B.T, E.S.C, PAYE, WHT, Income Tax & other Taxes.

·    Good knowledge in applications of Microsoft Office Packages
