My name is Sibangilizwe Maphosa born in 1978 and l am a holder of a Bachelor of Technology Honors Degree in Environmental Health and a class 4 driver’s license. Was trained as a rider for health in 2014 and l have been riding a motor cycle routinely ever since. I stated working for the Ministry of Health and Child Care in 2003 as a Nutrition Assistant from 2003 to 2009 and l was actively involved in disease prevention programs, such as prevention and management of severe malnutrition before undergoing training in the field of Environmental Health where my appreciation of Public Health grew and the need to play a bigger and more active role in disease prevention made me realize that l should study. I then enrolled to train as an Environmental Health Technician and stated in January 2009 and finished with a National diploma in Environmental Health in 2011. I rejoined the ministry of Health and Child Care in March 2013 to date where l continued to be part of a team of practitioners responsible for public health programs such as malaria prevention, I also coordinated various public health programs at district level where I took part in the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets and Indoor Residual Spraying.
Community mobilization, program monitoring and evaluation are part of my curricular activities and this prompts me to periodically liaise and collaborate with cadres at different levels within the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, other government authorities and stakeholders.
Sibangilizwe Maphosa worked in Matebeleland North Province’s Bubi District when he joining the ministry in 2003 until 2008 as a Nutrition Assistant where I felt the need to be actively involved in public health and then decided to pursue the field of Environmental Health training under the Ministry of Health and Child Care as a Trainee Environmental Health Technician (EHT) between 2009 to 2011. As a student, EHT, he was exposed to more public health programs, where different disease of significance took precedence. Upon completion of the training I re-joined the Ministry of Health and Child Care where I have working in the Environmental Health Department up to date. To improve the technical know how in the field of Public Health, I the underwent further training and added two more qualifications.
