1) Organization Name: PUI

Position:  Humanitarian Protection Program Manager -Monguno, N-E Nigeria (Borno state) (December, 2018 –September, 2019)

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Responsible for the management and implementation of a protection programme implemented in North Eastern Nigeria . This includes all phases of the project cycle, from planning project activities, monitoring progress, ensuring accurate budget monitoring/spend as well as timely achievement of the project’s milestones and reporting on project results

·         Conducting mapping of the relevant stakeholders in the area of responsibility, identifying and analysing main gender, peace and security issues and possible areas of intervention in line with the PUI’s mandate

·         Facilitate integration and mainstreaming of child protection risk mitigation in all activities implemented by PUI and partners

·         In close collaboration with interagency sector coordination units, ensure PUI representation in the relevant technical coordination and forums at the field level and vis-à-vis relevant actors as relevant to the project.

·         Lead on the development of a Protection Integrated Work Plan to ensure programming reflects standards for best practice and quality and modalities of integration and joint work remain context and need-appropriate.

·         Provide technical support to protection teams on Clinical Management of Rape (CMR) in consistent with international and national standards and ensure that program design and implementation creates no harm in the communities, promotes human rights and accountability, and has a positive impact.

Achvements

I have been among the key players in driving the growth and expansion of PUI’s humanitarian portfolio (including GBV, MPHSS, and child protection) and support protection mainstreaming in all of PUI’s projects. As an accustomed professtional to the pace of emergency response programming, I successfully lead a diverse team with minimal supervision but with high flexiblity and  responsiveness, and excels at building and strengthening relations with donors.

Achivements

I did conduct a high quality and timely assessments of Child Protection and provide prioritized recommendations for Child Protection program interventions to the Unity State Emergency child protection program set ups.

I took the lead in the designing process of  creative, context-responsive Child Protection program responses in line with the IRC’s Child Protection emergency response program model. ( prioritize the provision of child-centered case management, family tracing and reunification, alternative care arrangements, Safe Healing and Learning Spaces, safe referral systems, parenting support.)

September 1, 2014- April 31, 2016

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Develop all relevant tools, processes and systems to ensure referral mechanisms are in place in close coordination with protection partners.

·         Provide on going supervision, leadership, training and technical support and guidance to Protection staff,and ensure all Protection staff adheres to best-practice principles in all aspects of program implementation.

·         Take ownership by developing new tools when necessary and/or ensuring existing protection mainstreaming systems and tools areimplemented throughout programs with an emphasis on enhancing program quality.

·         Take part in the proposal writing process and Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using IRC and donor formats, as required.

·         Assure appropriate and timely spending of grants to achieve program goals, grant reporting contributions, use and distribution of supplies and resources. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders – including community leaders, NGOs, UN agencies, community based organizations and other IRC sectors to enhance cooperation and coordination.

Achivements

I took the lead for the development and implementation of protection monitoring, information dissemination, case management, legal services and community based protection programming in Unity state.

I set up the design and  implementation of protection monitoring methodology, M&E systems, training materials for protection monitoring and community based protection project staff, and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) regarding the sharing of data with internal and external actors.

·         Supports the Implementation of the Psychosocial Conceptual Framework for psychosocial support in schools, in a participatory approach in coordination with the Education Programme and other concerned staff.

·         Provides direct technical support to the school counselors in the provision of PSS activities for children between6-18.

·         Supports the professional development of school counselors and participates in the development of capacity building materials enhancing the psychosocial support and wellbeing of refugee students.

·         Supports the School Counselors in organizing and administering the PSS, Inclusive Education, Protection and Gender-based Violence programme in schools, in coordination with the technical advisor.

·         Strengthens the psychosocial support, recreational and emergency responsiveness in Education programme intended at strengthening Staff capacity to provide psychosocial support in education and promoting the psychosocial well-being of students.

·         Lead and oversee the implementation of protection component of the Durable Solutions for IDPs and Returnees in Somalia in close collaborations with UN actors.

·         Monitors the implementation and progress of the PSS component in the Education in Emergencies project according to approved stated objectives, action plan, budget and records progress by working closely with the project manager. Conducts routine project needs assessments and programme reviews to ensure successful implementation and donor compliance.

Achivements

I took a proactive steps in seeking out and building relationships with civic, religious, and security force leaders throughout the community; advocate for mental health initiatives; develop partnerships that can increase the reach and scope of MHPSS service delivery. Besides as a program head I took the Lead in  the planning and oversee MHPSS program activities in the project area and ensured activities respond to MHPSS standards, are meaningful for the needs of the population, culturally appropriate, and are effectively conducted

Responsibilities
·         Ensure emergency preparedness is contained in national programmes/projects to ensure the protection and wellbeing of children in cases of armed conflict, natural disasters and other emergency situations.
·         Provide strategic direction,leadership and overall technical and management assistance to the integrated gender and age responsive protection programming, advising other sector programme design as well.

·         Ensure PSNs people are documented as per the established standards and support them through alternative care arrangements in a safe and conducive family environment, in addition to ensuring that guidelines and approaches for identification at risk people are followed.

·         Work with community structures, women, girls and children and related partners to strengthen safeguards to prevent sexual and gender based violence, sexual exploitation and abuse and harmful traditional practices against women, girls and children in the IDP camps.

·         Ensure child friendly spaces are well managed or established to address psychosocial support needs for children and young people.

·         Strengthen and operationalize the functionality of community based protection committees, networks and groups.

·         Support establishment of confidential mechanisms of complaints and feedback in communities and schools to address sexual and rights violations of at risk people.

·         Take a lead in the development of SOP (including service mapping and referral pathway) in collaboration with ARRA (government agency for refugees’ affairs), UNHCR, and other implementing partners.

·         Take the lead in the design and development of CP strategy, assessments, and situation analysis and proposal writing exercises.

·         Promote knowledge management through exchange of knowledge, information, situation analysis, experience or lessons learned.

·         Ensure Child Protection risk mitigation activities are incorporated into other sectors and humanitarian activities, through trainings, advocacy and other mentoring or support In coordination with the supervisor, represent the IRC to UN, international and national NGOs, Ministries, and key child protection actors.

Achivement

Take an active role in the International Rescue Committee CP starategy drafting and finaization  . This which helps the IRC  CPiE programming to function well  with regards to children, parents/ care givers and the community in the process of documentation of identified cases of unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and other at risk children, in the prevention and response of abuse, exploitation, violence and neglect.

Establish and make functional Community Core Group (CCG) discussion with Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) tools that help to maintain adult learning through deeply analyzing root causes of child protection concerns in the area and collaboratively involve in finding solutions to the child protection concerns that was identified through the process of recognizing the existing child protection problems and taking a collaborative community wide action and made improvements to the lives of vulnerable children.

Ensure the implementation of the program and build the capacity of teachers to apply play-based learning methodologies in targeted schools.

Design livelihood economic strengthening schemes for the Youth to take part in successful stabilization.

Achivements

Sucessfuly manage to promote the participation of children in all matters affecting their lives in collaboration with different stakholers .
