I am currently working on the production line at NorthStar. I started on the corner cleaner and was quickly moved to a Chop Saw. I enjoy the work on the chop saw as I prefer to work independently to finish my assigned work.

I have been working from home as a Stained Glass Artist for 10 years. I first took up Stained Glass as a hobby that I was able to work on in my home while working full time and looking after my young kids as a single mother. I soon came to love the work and took on many custom glass projects and a few piece work projects for other artists in the area. I often create custom pieces of my own design based on photographs. I am attempting now to build this business into something I can support my self and my family with.

Health Centre Pharmacy is a busy fast paced pharmacy where I worked as a Pharmacy Tech for 14 years. I was responsible for stock ordering, inventory control, prescription processing using Nexxys (Pharmaclix RX), store level computer system maintenance, compounding and counting medication. I also managed the community compliance packaging department for the pharmacy which serviced more than 150 patients. This position required the coordinating of pharmaceutical care between the patient and the physician (often more than one physician) to supply the best combination of medication to meet the patients  medical needs.

My two years at Marchese Pharmacy were my favorite in my career as a Pharmacy Tech. I worked in the infusion department where we worked under sterile hoods and injected medication into bags of sterile water for home infusion purposes. In the time I spent there I learned many techniques in the preparation of home infusion, including preparation of TPN (total parenteral nutrition) and narcotic cassettes. This was my favorite position because of the independent work, the calm and peace that can be found in working alone, not usually found in a busy pharmacy setting.

Equipment Manager / Executive Member

I served as Equipment Manager for my son’s swim team for 3 seasons. The Jumbo Jets, and more specifically the Head Coach Penny Bosma, were a very important influence in my son’s life. It was important to me that I give back to the team that had given so much to him.

My job with the team was to make sure that all the swimmers had team suits for swim meets, caps, fins etc for practice, and spirit wear for when not swimming and wanting to support their team. I was also responsible ordering many items for the team including lane ropes and the equipment for running meets. I also designed the current logo for the team.

The St Thomas Jumbo Jets are only able to compete in regional level meets if they are able to host their own home meets. All parents of swimmers are required to participate in running these meets. I have worked as a Timer, a Judge of Strokes and Turns, Marshall and Chief Timer.
