Job Responsibility include:
Administration, evaluation and analysis of University-Wide Networking needs consisting of more than 5000 nodes on wireless and wired network.
IT Infrastructure Management for the University Campus Networking.
Tendering for IT procurement’s for the University Campus Networking and other related items .
Evaluation of vendor recommendations.
Assist in the analysis of department network needs and provide assistance to departmental Local Area Network .
Establishment of University-Wide hardware and software standards for networking and in the planning, expansion and growth of University Local Area Networks.
Assisted in establishing ICT training programs for departmental local area network coordinators and participate in conducting certification training.
Projects Handled and Executed Successfully in the University and Corporate:
Technically coordinated for setting up of POP (Point of Presence) level 1 “National Knowledge Network” project for the inter-connectivity of all Educational, Scientific and Research Organizations of India under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Under this project NKN lease line of 1 Giga is connected with the University Network Backbone which helps the university to become part of the National Knowledge Network and can interact with any university with in the Country on this Backbone.
Implemented and administrating the roaming wireless campus (JU Wi-Fi) with 400+ Indoor Access Points and 20+ Outdoor access points , bridges from Cisco Linksys, D-link with RADIUS server for AAA ( Authorization, Authentication and Accountability with WAP and digital certifications providing security to wireless network which covers all the departments, outdoor hotspots, playfields, hostels, residential quarters .
Technically assisted Head, Department of Computer Science, University of Jammu to setup, administrate and maintain the university campus networking on optical fibre back bone with 2 core switches Cisco 4507r,distribution switches Cisco 2950, Cyberoam 1000ia UTM device and internet connectivity 40 mbps and 1giga link extended to the whole university campus covering 32 departments, hostels lans with 200+ distributed switches etc.
Technically supervising and implemented the Global Understanding Programme through Internet based video conferencing in collaboration with East Carolina University and Jammu University project supported by US State Department. Under this project around 30 foreign countries and participating.
Technically assisted joint Collaborative project between University of Calgary and University of Jammu, to setup a distance learning video conferencing classroom in University of Jammu through Access Grid through Internet for One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course offered by University of Calgary.
Technically handled the infrastructure implementation as Configuration Manager for Techno – Skill Development Centre in Jammu University by Xansa India ltd in collaboration with UGC (University Grants Commission) India and NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies) India.
Successfully implemented and administrate the University of Jammu web Portal www.Jammuuniversity.in with web based email facility.
Successfully implemented the UTM at the Gateway level. This helps the University Fraternity to use the Internet facility more efficiently using load balancing, gateway level antivirus, user monitoring and authentication as well as reporting for better decision to be taken by the authorities.
