Profile

Staff Nurse/Operating Room Nurse Duties

• Assisted patients for approval of their laboratory, diagnostic procedures with their respected HMO cards; giving first-aids; helping them prepare for their scheduled tests/procedures.

• Accepts phone inquiries and explanation of preparations for each procedures and laboratory tests.

• Taking the vital signs of patients.

• Charting of their medical records and filing in a secured place.

• Assisted doctors for special bedside procedures in a clinic setting (e.g. casting, medicine administration via intramuscular and/or intravenous route, ultrasound-guided needle biopsies).

• Assessment of annual physical examination and executive check-ups for employment purposes.

• MINOR OPERATIONS/SURGERIES: Assisted patients with their Philhealth claims, requirements, and approval of their operations with HMO cards.

– Approval of health insurance claims prior the scheduled operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Used established techniques in preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures; provides and sets up necessary instruments, supplies and equipment for different types of operations, according to protocol.

• As scrub or sterile nurse, sets up operating room with instruments as specifically required for type of operation to be performed; arranged instruments and other articles in specified order on portable table immediately accessible to, the surgeon; anticipated surgeon’s needs for instruments, sponges, sutures, suction tubes and other items and hands them to surgeon in most expeditious manner; maintains aseptic field.

• Observed patient during surgical procedure to detect possible complications and/or breaks in sterile technique; furnishes emergency equipment and supplies to prevent fatality,

• As circulating nurse, placed patient in prescribed position to assure access to operative field; adjust operating table and accessory equipment as may be required; prepared operative area and draped patient,

• Provided special equipment such as cauteries, electro-surgical machines, diagnostic lights and other special apparatus and assured same is in proper working order; manipulates such equipment, to aid in the efficiency of the surgeon and to avoid hazards to patient.
