Position:  Process Engineer.

Planning, coordination, controlling and improvement of production processes.

  • Preparation of annual, quarterly and Monthly Production plan.
  • Prepare and transmit melting plan to SMS, and Mill production schedule to Rolling Mill on a daily basis.
  • Monitor and control production progress. Investigate and monitor performance, analyse shortfall and abnormalities within processes, implement necessary remedial actions and suggest technical changes where applicable.
  • Synergies with Costing Department to check process feasibility and monitor output to keep cost under control while meeting quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with marketing, Sales, costing, production and finished products storage divisions to keep product inventory in control. Responsible for disposal of scrap / obsolete stock / Process rejection / Internal Return stock.
  • Monitor EAF yield, Ferro-alloy consumption, Caster yield, Rolling Mill Yield, utilities consumption and other Key performance indices; identify areas for improvement and co-ordinate the execution of improvement project as agreed upon in review meetings. Act as Leader/champion/team member of various improvement projects (using lean Six Sigma methodology).
  • Dispatch planning and control. Responsible for Customer wise Order Processing and Co-ordination with Billet yard, rolled product yard, Quality and Marketing for Sales order compliance.
  • Conducting routine inspection and stock audit to ensure reconciliation of physical stock of finished goods at storage divisions.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

  •   Significantly contributed to the achievement of the highest Rolled products per day produced by the company; 629 MT/day in 12 mm Re-bars and 1139 MT/day in 25mm profile Re-bars. This was achieved by ensuring non-stop supply of quality Billets by SMS and smooth rolling operations at the Rolling Mill.
  •   The reduction of time taken to collect, collate and verify/query production and dispatch data/information to prepare the daily production and stock reports for top management. The average time was reduced by about 60%. This was achieved by eliminating duplications of data entry for different reports, training staff on data entry in excel sheets, creation of excel templates for various reporting units to ease integration into the final report, creation of PPC Data base, better utilization of the company’s computer network, and other measures.
