PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
UASC, the largest shipping company in the Middle East, was established in 1976 jointly by the six Gulf Arab states Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E
After the recent merger in May, 2017, UASC is a fully owned subsidiary of Hapag Lloyd, UASC was the world’s 18th largest container shipping company, with 53 Ocean vessels with a combined container capacity of approximately 400,000 TEU’s. With an annual turnover of USD.3.30 billion in 2016.
American Trade contributed 33% to the overall revenue of UASC with USD.1.10 billion.
Responsibilities:
The role of an Accounts Supervisor, is exactly the functions of an Assistant Manager, assisting the Trade Manager in the day to day activities like documentation, validation & creation of Revenue and Cost data in the Accounting software, Financial Reporting, Internal and External Audits and Compliance Management.
Financial Reporting and Documentation
• Manage day to day operations of the accounting department as part of the finance department.
• Interact with the senior management team in preparing and closing financial statements based on evaluated accounting data
• Evaluate organizational financial health by preparing forecasted monthly & annual financial statements, quarterly reporting of revenue and cost with accruals of ports of North and South America
• Compile quarterly management report of revenue and costs of America trade accounts, analyzed and compared with budget / estimates provided by the region
Audit and Compliance Management
• Participate in various internal and external audits aimed at effectively implementing accounting methods, policies and principles
• Prepare and submit Annual Audit Schedules of Provisions and accruals for the year. Monitor & report on compliance of agent specific recommendations and observations of internal auditors

Achievements:
Brought changes / corrections in Agency remuneration of our Canada Agency, as their remuneration was calculated on the import Inland discharge to America.

Responsibilities:
Accounts and Finance Management
• Evaluate & validate revenue generated from the ports of Hong Kong and China
• Coordinate month and year end processes encompassing accounts payable and receivable, cash receipts, general ledger amongst others
• Participate in validation, allocation and reconciliation of weekly cost statements reported by agents to respective port / vessel & voyage / activity for conducting profitability analysis
• Maintain updated GL accounts by posting, adjusting and reconciling GL accounts. Evaluate cost against budget / estimate / actuals
• Conduct periodic review of recoverable costs, rebates and incentives due from agents and suppliers Evaluate revenue and expenditure variance for ascertaining organizational profitability
Achievements:
After the “Handover” of Hong Kong back to China, I brought to the notice of the management to reconsider and reduce/revise the “Transshipment Box fee” a part of Agency remuneration.
