We are dealing with patients of different kinds of Psychiatric problem like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Drug Abuse with/without psychotic symptoms, Alcohol Dependent with/without psychotic symptoms and etc.  The nurse-patient ratio is 1:15 but during night shift 1:30.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.       Supervises junior staff in performance of daily activities in an effective and efficient manner, making sure that safety and welfare of the client is main priority.

2.       Closely monitors client with behavioral/psychological problems. Examples are suicidal, escape precaution, restrained, isolated and disturbed patients.

3.       Delegates specific duties to the junior staff according to their field of specialty.

4.       Create and participates in therapeutic activities of the client.

5.       Provides a secure and safe environment for violent detained clients and makes recommendations to friends and/or relatives on how to contribute in the fast recovery of the client.

6.       Contributes in the formation and review of the care development programs suitable to the needs of the client.

7.       Immediately addresses client concerns like sudden change of behavior and suicide attempts.

8.       Maintain staff morale; develop communication and interpersonal relations by means of meeting and interactive dialogues.

9.       Responsible in giving medications to the patients.

10.   Eliminate all hazardous objects within the unit/ward to prevent accidents and or incidents involving patient and staff.

11.   Reports to the physician and psychiatrist any unusual behavior and condition of patients.
