Greetings! My name is Michael A. Dela Rosa, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Southeastern Philippines and earning a Special Citation award for achieving a GPA of 1.75.
Right after graduation last 2017, I was employed by my former professor as a documenter for his team when he was commissioned by UNDP-KOICA to conduct an impact evaluation study for their project “Support to Typhoon Recovery and Resilience in the Visayas: Waste Management, Vocational Training, Cash Assistance for Livelihood, and Community Disaster Preparedness”. For that two-month stint, I learned the basics of making reports and documentation, especially in packaging and lay-outing them as well as other equally important and related tasks.
The same professor then offered me a job to be his staff when he was designated as a Graduate School Head at the same university I graduated. For almost a year, I was trained to all aspects of administrative work as well as on developing research proposals for internal and external funding. In addition, I also learned how to organize events, make workshop guides and powerpoint presentations for local and national seminars and lectures of my boss. When he was transferred and was made Dean of the Graduate Schools of USEP, I was then also transferred to his office as his Technical Assistant. Although the work is almost the same as my previous work, it has become more stringent and busier. Nonetheless, I was able to work there for a whole year before he resigned the post. For the position, I was able to further my skills as a statistician where I was taught how to solve simple and complex statistical tools and data analysis.
The last four months of the year 2019 saw me working as Program Staff for a project of the university in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture. Aside from the usual administrative and clerical efforts, I also did field works where I went to the project location to interview beneficiaries and such. In this job, I was able to use my license as a Registered Agriculturist through various activities which involved field works to the project site.
These professional experiences have taught me how to work well under pressure and multitask efficiently. Not only that, I am also extremely detail-oriented and is always eager to learn as well as to contribute whatever task is necessary. I also like establishing strong rapport with my workmates in the office as I believe that teamwork is necessary to get the job done.
