WORK EXPERIENCE
Civil Service Commission

Currently working as the Legal Advisor’s assistant in running the Legal Services Agency and supervising work done by the legal officers

Position: Deputy Legal Advisor

Period: July 2014 to date

Duties

·         Assisting the legal advisor in giving legal advice and opinions to the Commission and Civil Service Commission Secretariat

·         Assisting line Ministries/Government Departments on the correct interpretation and implementation of public Service Regulations / Statutes

·         Recommending (to the Legal Advisor) amendments to the Public Service Act and Public Service Regulations/ Statutes

·         Analyzing and giving opinions on draft bills and regulations submitted to the Commission for its views

·         Coming up with draft agreements between the Civil Service Commission and third [parties to ensure compliance with legal requirements for the Legal Advisors consideration

·         Assisting ministries with the drafting of misconduct charges and assisting Disciplinary Committees during misconduct hearings

·         Drafting, responding affidavits to court applications made to the Labour Court, Magistrates and the High Court

·         Presenting papers at workshops/ seminars on matters relating to discipline and Legal issues
