I am a Professional Business Management executive with 25 Years of experience in the Telecom Sector (Fixed & GSM) with exposure to other sectors included (construction, manufacturing and business services).

I previously worked as Regional Technical Manager with Digicel in Papua New Guinea. Before worked for Wadi Degla Africa (EGYPRO) as MD in Tanzania and earlier employers include Mobiserve Holding (Orascom Telecom company) and Siemens (NSN).

My career has encompassed country unit management with full P&L responsibility, sales & business development, ICT technical management, project management, managed services, telecoms operational management, driving profitable change, introducing new policies & procedures, facilities management (FM), telecoms engineering leadership (on the ground O&M activities for fixed networks + GSM – 2G / 3G /4G, LTE), client relationship management and quality assurance (ISO9000 accredited).

I have lived / worked in multiple countries spanning Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East and have built, led and mentored diverse teams. Regional Technical Manager

 

·        Managed all technical activities in the Western region of PNG; surveys including soil tests, site acquisitions, an Ericsson to Huawei swap project for 19 additional GF sites (towers 50,60,80,110, & 130M), ICT account management, leasing from OTML, all health & safety oversight / procedures, corrective maintenance etc.

Managing Director

 

·        Joined as Head of Sales Africa covering Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania.

·        Led analysis into the Moroccan market and subsequently opened a new branch in the country. Prepared a full business case covering market dynamics, budgets, CapEx, cash-flow etc. Successfully established the branch with support from Deloitte. Started business development and obtained first contract with Camusat for a site construction project.

·        In 2015 moved to Tanzania as MD. Projects included fiber installation for an ALU consortium in Tanzania, an LTE sites installation (120) for 4G operator Smile, a 3G equipment sites installation for 2G / 3G operator Tigo and an FO project for 60km (civil, trenching, laying cables, splicing). Decreased intercompany debt by 60%.

·        In addition to the core telecoms activity also won a pure construction project for a private client; for a two-story building worth $2m. Started construction in December 2015 and completed in 2017.

·        Initially joined Mobiserve Pakistan as O&M Manager, before moving to Egypt in the same role. Then promoted to General Manager in Tunisia in 2009 until March 2012. Then moved to UAE.

·        As O&M Manager in Pakistan increased number of sites from 850 to 2400.

·        Owned UAE country P&L, controlled budgets and closely monitored financial performance.

·        Identified significant cost savings through the introduction of a robust monthly reporting system that quickly highlighted significant inefficiencies. Faced with very tough trading conditions in Dubai, led a 40% downsizing of the company. This was a difficult challenge but ultimately saved the UAE organization and further job losses.

·        Devised and established new policies & procedures to drive quality and successful operations.

·        Liaised directly with senior client management at du, Etisalat, Huawei, Orange and Orascom Telecom and supervised the implementation of all contracted activities.

·        Drove procurement savings of $7.2m in UAE.

·        As GM of Mobiserve in Tunisia increased revenue by 194%.

EWSD O&M Consultant

 

·        Led a project to set up a EWSD switch (power node APS V15) with four RSU’s in remote sites via satellite transmission. Led and mentored a team of five.

·        Handled system training for the team; O&M principles, DB modifications, system backup and safeguarding.

·        Provided 24/7 on-call support for emergency cases and troubleshooting failures.

 

Spring Consulting Services (for Asiacell Telecom), Iraq;                                                                                                                     2004

 

OMC Manager

 

·        Created processes, procedures and job descriptions for OMC staff.

·        Wrote daily reports for the Operations Director regarding network status and outages; causes, TRX’s and down-time.

·        Provided technical support for OMC staff to assist them in backup functionality, shift planning (24/7) and SW patching.

 

Siemens, Egypt;                                                                                                                                                                        1995 – 2004

Technical Support Senior Engineer TAC2

 

·        Successfully executed the first phase of FW, HW modifications testing, testing patch releases from TAC3 and providing service information for operators.

·        Carried out EWSD APS testing and prepared ATMN for the client. Receive TAC1 fault report and tested for solution before escalation.
