Alejandro Villarreal Valles
Electronics Engineer
ITESM
I am an Electronics Engineer with a Master’s Degree Studies in Electronic Systems (MSE) at ITESM, campus Monterrey, México. I am currently employed by Robertshaw in Matamoros, México. Robertshaw is dedicated to design and manufacture of Electronic and Electromechanical controls for commercial and home appliances, and automotive/off road temperature and fluid controls. Our customers are Dexter, SubZero, Tesla, Whirlpool, Wolf, etc.
I am in the Strategic Electronics Development Department as Electrical and Environmental Laboratory Supervisor and Component Engineer. Right now, my main duties are focused on three different programs. One program is the End of Life components (EOL). My activities include the coordination to build Engineering Samples in production lines. Develop Electrical and Reliability Tests Plan. All tests and test conditions need be according to Safety requirement (UL, CB, CSA, IEC, UL, etc) and Design guidelines. The second program is the Cost reduction program; in coordination with purchasing department, we develop a test plan in order to approve second sources, making similar activities like on EOL program; from September 2016 to date we tests components in order to obtain a Cost saving of 800,000 dlls. The third program is the Global Electronics Part Numbering System. I participated in the Global Electronics Part Identification Standards (defining the main attributes for each electronics component) develop new component specification and attend requests for new part numbers using the Global Electronics Part Identification Standards. This program was required due to the company hand multiple parts numbering systems from business acquisitions increasing the difficulty for global procurement to take advantage of global supply agreements and inventory in global manufacturing locations.
At Sensata and Tyco Power Systems in Matamoros, México. I served as Electrical Engineer; in this position I produced design proposals to improve the reliability and safety of our products; proposals are based on a complete electrical and mechanical analysis; components stress analysis, and datasheet comparison. In addition, we also provide field failure analysis, using 8D Failure Mode Analysis to determine root causes. We also provide engineering support to our production lines helping to improve production yields based on statistical analysis.
I have attained a Green Belt (Six Sigma) certification; the project to be certificated was completed in January of 2008 with Hard Savings to Tyco Power Electronics for over $100,000.
At LG Electronics I served as a Reliability and Safety Coordinator in Design Department. Managing all safety tests for new products, allowing LG to be listed by regulatory Agencies like UL, EIC, CSA, CUL, NOM, FCC, ISTA and ANSI.
