Duties and Responsibilities

To ensure that crimes are prevented
Advising management on all security risks aimed at preventing crimes
Collection of security intelligence
Ensure security records and exhibits are secure
Ensure security investigation is done expeditiously
Make appropriate reports to management
Liaising with other government security agencies to prevent crime
Reduce corruptionthrough zero tolerance and internal control
Create the file of a criminal so that this file can be used to identify future criminals.

Duties and responsibilities

Assume responsibility for monitoring all municipal public safety frequencies from neighboring communities and public safety agencies.
Maintain communications between and among local and neighboring police, fire and ambulance services.
Monitor and maintain telephone communications for all incoming lines and in-house intercom systems. Receive both emergency and routine calls, determine the appropriate action to be taken and/or referral to be made, and give information requiring a familiarity with all aspects of the community.
Receive authorized requests for towing of motor vehicles, determine “on call” wrecker service, and dispatch tow truck (s) to appropriate location.
Record and log all radio transmissions and telephone calls. Such records must include the date, time and the nature of the call or radio communications as this data is often used in legal proceedings.
Prepare and maintain up-to-date street locations and residency listings for use by municipal police, fire, and medical emergency personnel.
Maintain security house check listing and communicate additions and deletions to the appropriate police departments.
Perform and record required tests of emergency telephone lines, radio base stations, paging systems, audible compressed air general public alerting devices, and other communications systems.
Radio page and provide message forwarding for various municipal officials and public safety personnel, and medical emergency personnel.

REPRESENTATIVE GENERAL DUTIES
Patrol designated areas of the town in car, by foot, or other means to preserve law and order, discover and prevent the commission of crimes, and enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances; protect real and personal property by providing security checks of residential, business, and public premises.
Respond to calls for the protection of life and property, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, general public service calls, and complaints including those involving automobile accidents, traffic hazards, misdemeanor and felony incidents, domestic disturbances, property control, civil complaints, and related incidents; investigate complaints and takes appropriate action, which may include the use of deadly or non-deadly force; use sound judgment under adverse, stressful conditions.
Conduct investigations at scenes of incidents to which summoned or incidents observed; determine what, if any, crime has been committed; identify, collect, preserve, process, and book evidence; locate and interview victims and witnesses; identify and interrogate suspects.
Prepare and serve search and arrest warrants; apprehend and arrest offenders for crimes committed under federal, state, and local laws and codes; control and mitigate people under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other potentially hostile situations.
