Power System Operations & Planning Engineer
Worked as a Power System Operations & Planning engineer for National Transmission & Despatch Company at National Power Control Centre of Pakistan performing transmission network operations & planning.
Main Responsibilities include:
• To provide Power System operations on 132 kV & 66kV NTDC transmission Network through SCADA as per standards prescribed in NEPRA Grid Code (National Electricity law and rules regulatory authority of Pakistan).
• Maintaining security, stability and reliability of the Power System through Load- Frequency and Voltage Control method, maintaining loading of circuits and transformers within limit, analysing network condition and taking necessary remedial measures.
• Monitor & Carry-out load shedding in pre-arranged methods in case of generation shortage, overloading of auto transformers, transmission lines or other system contingency.
• Quick & correct quota allocation to Discos based on available generation including cases where abrupt loss of generation occurs.
• Coordination with 33kv/11kv distribution control centres for any day-to-day switching program.
• Monitoring parameters such as MW, MVAR, SF6 Gas Pressure and different types of alarms of sub-station.
• To lead the team in restoration of system from partial and complete collapse.
• Instructing Switching Operations for Scheduled / Emergency Shutdowns of EHV,HV Transmission lines, Power Transformers ,Circuit breakers, Generating units and other Network Components.

• Training and mentoring new resources on existing network connections, network operations, legal and regulatory framework in which the power industry operates.
• Coordinate operations and future implementations with other operation engineers of the organization, GENCOs, DISCOs, IPPS and other utilities
• To Analyse, plan & troubleshoot for power systems contingencies using simulation
applications such as PSSE.
• To analyse transmission network condition, taking necessary remedial measures along with creating detailed report with findings and recommendations based on the analysed data.
• Planning of Operations, preparation of switching programs, analysis of operation risk and decision making , as well as prepare contingency plans for emergency conditions.
• Controlling and handling partial collapse & minor/major power disturbances.
• Preparation of Daily & Monthly Reports for onward submission to concerned authorities. •
