Main function is to assist internal customers with coordinating the Purchasing dept. Negotiated cost reductions with suppliers Raw materials, Supplier development and continuous improvement. Part of my Job was to assist the Materials Manager with any task required and provide support to the buyer/ planners/CSR with any supplier issues. I also provide support to the stock room area and import / Export. Software being used: AS400. In the process of learning the development of the S&OP reports. I was also involved in the Transfers of new production lines and products, placing initial purchase and blanket orders for raw materials as well as requiring the Piece Part Approval Process documentation. For 2014 I managed to switch 60 % ($300,000.00) of our supply base to Consignment and acquired about $450,000.00 in savings for Raw materials .Negotiations of contracts and quoting of global commodities and or components for the plants in Ostrava, China, US and Mexico, Did NPI and Line transfers from sister plants.
I managed the supply base and purchase of all required Materials, assigned to me, needed for the smooth and efficient operation Production lines in which they are employed and/or the Corporation. I was a commodity manager for the goods and services they purchase and, as a result, was responsible for developing commodity strategies that would optimize the way those products are purchased. Specific strategies would vary by commodity but would include and not be limited to new supplier sourcing, development of negotiating strategies, implementation of new innovative ways to purchase goods and services (consignment, kan-bans, supplier managed inventories, etc.) and supply base rationalization, where appropriate.
My self, together with the Materials Manager that being the local commodities, but also at a global level with the purchasing director at the corporate plant, established specific goals for quality, on time delivery and cost for the commodities/suppliers. I had the responsibility for and monitored the progress toward achievement of those goals.
