Job Description and Responsibilities:
Orients patients and their relatives on the physical set up and facilities of the area as well as the unit policies, personnel and hospital regulations including proper waste segregation and disposal.
Makes frequent rounds to all patients.
Identifies problems of patients and implements appropriate nursing action according to the priority needs of the patient.
Involves the patient and family in the plan of care.
Gives emotional and spiritual support to patients and relatives.
Provides skillful, safe and effective nursing care to patients.
Makes referrals to other members of the health team.
Observes aseptic technique in preparing and assisting in treatments, examinations and sterilizations of instruments.
Demonstrates principles of infection control.
Provides assistance and guidance to nursing trainees.
Assists in orienting new personnel.
Participates in maintaining the unit’s cleanliness and organize at all times.
Participates in the dissemination of information regarding hospital rules and regulations.
Provides support and care to the preoperative and post-operative patients and their families.
