Manage the Ace Foundation, the official charitable arm of Ace Hardware Corporation, which raised over $12.5
million for its two national charity partners in 2017. Over past 6 years, the Ace Foundation has had a 200
percent increase in funds raised for our lead charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Manage department of four, including oversight of vendor and corporate fundraising efforts as well as
creation and execution of all in-store fundraising programs in over 4,200 domestic Ace Hardware stores.
Created Ace All-Star patient ambassador program which has been key component of retailer fundraising
growth; during my tenure, retailer fundraising has seen a 309 percent increase in participation and a
637 percent increase in fundraising dollars.
Oversight of all budgets, forecasts, multi-year gift agreements/pledges including recent $10 million, 5-
year pledge to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and overall fundraising strategy.
Lead the team that plans annual department fundraising events including Vendor Golf Outing, Robbie
Gould Celebrity Golf Invitational presented by Ace Hardware, Ace Hawaii Shoot Out, as well the
facilitation of our employee volunteer program for over 800 Oak Brook-based employees.
Maintain the relationship with the national office of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the
American Red Cross as well as with the 154 local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the
country.
Recognized thought leader in the retail fundraising field; speak at various CMN Hospitals, Ace Hardware,
and industry events and conferences regarding POS fundraising, fundraising as employee engagement
tool, and the future of philanthropy.
Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare
Internal Communications Manager/Special Events Manager (October 2003 – June 2012)
Key responsibilities as a member of both the Marketing Division and the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital
Foundation team included event planning and management; internal and external communications; and media,
community, and physician relations.
• Served as sole event planner for all events throughout health system.
• Led the planning and implementation of the Grand Opening events for the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital
new main campus, drawing over 14,000 attendees within a three-week period.
• Served as lead event planner for Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Annual Autumn Affair Gala,
Fall Benefit Dinner and annual Golf Classic.
• Managed all internal communications for health system, including serving as editor of the employee
newsletter and intranet.
• Managed vendors (including graphic designers, caterers, and A/V groups) to ensure that all details of
events and promotional materials were communicated clearly and executed properly.
• Promoted hospital services and grew market share by initiating/developing relationships with local
businesses, community groups, volunteers, employees, and new physicians.
• Served as a hospital spokesperson for the media, providing information and coordinating interviews with
physicians and senior management.
