Foremost Farms Pinugay branch is a one-site intensive swine farm operating from breeding to finishing section. It is divided into 12 unit (small-650, medium-832 and large-1300) units. It has its own artificial insemination center, diagnostic laboratory, boar testing center, biotech center, General Services Department and produces its own breeders.
Duties Responsibilities Fattening Section
• Responsible in feeding the pigs and regular cleaning of the piggery and
basic maintenance at the farm
• Responsible in the healthcare and management of the pigs.
• Sorting and segregation according to size and health status of the starter and growers.
• conducts in breeding and in the farrowing section.
• Conducts ear notching, teeth clipping, iron injections and castrations of piglets
• Submit daily and monthly report of mortalities, production, and other related reports
to the Farm owner
• Conducts regular inspection of the animals. Report, coordinate and discuss with
the Farm any abnormalities observed from the animals.
• Recommends to the Farm any new developments, creative innovations
and improvements towards the attainment of company’s production goals.
• Responsible in plotting & pivoting the data of the farm into excel, word format and submit them to the farm. ( Ex. Mating records, farrowing records and daily mortality and etc..)

Wash-in, wash-out of all farm personnel and visitors are strictly implemented within the farm as one of the biosecurity measures. Body temperature is taken and persons having above normal temperature are not allowed to enter the farm. Materials are exposed to UV rays prior to entry, foot bath and hand wash are strategically positioned within the farm.

Semen Collection
Proper hygiene and sanitation is a requirement. Sterile materials such as sterile cup, clean and dry collecting pens. Boars are collected 5 to 7 days interval using a dummy sow. Consistency of the semen is being noted and make use of the AI center laboratory results to check sperm quantity and quality as basis for maintaining or culling based on reproductive performance of the boars or if needed medical intervention.
Implementing biosecurity protocols

Heat detection
It is usually done every morning around 5:30 to 7:00 am and 1:00 pm in the afternoon. Using a teaser boar, estrus signs are being observed such as swollen and reddish vulva, vaginal discharge, standing heat, erected ears, mounting other sows. Hitting the peak of ovulation rate during estrus phase, together with good management, ensure peace and quiet and feeding regimen, would yield to high conception rate, high farrowing rate, high litter size and large birth weight of piglets.
Artificial Insemination
100% artificial insemination is implemented in the farm with Boar to Sow Ratio of 1:80. We examine, dilute and process our own boar semen at the AI Center located inside the farm.
