Experience

4.1. Starting from September 06/2011 till now: Amhara regional health bureau as a Logistic and supply chain coordinator (Core process owner) Process owner or regional pharmaceutical and logestics director at Regional health bureau

My primary responsibilities are:
 Participate and lead the emergency program of Logistics and supply during drought, AWD and other emergency situation, and Lead the technical group of Emergency Logistics and Supply team
 Participate and lead the supply and procurement Annual Working Plan (AWP) with UNICEF, CHAI, JSI DELIVERED, MSH and other stakeholders
 Monitor and follow up the customs, shipping of drugs and vaccine from local and offshore purchase for proper for timely delivered of Amhara Region
 Supervises and manage regional warehouses and vaccine cold rooms for proper implementation flow of supply and vaccine
 Monitor and manage min-max strategy inventory level for drugs, hospital and health center machinery and equipment and vaccine through Integrated pharmaceuticals Logistics System (IPLS)
 Prepares evidence based short and long term plans on regional pharmaceutical operations in consultation with staff, division heads, other regional health bureau concerned core and support processes, regional health bureau management and development partners
 Established task forces and Lead Logistics TWG of the region with collaboration of PFSA and other stake holders.
 Lead and participate on quantification, forecasting and procurement of HIV drugs, vaccine, Essential medicine
 Strengthen the SCM by the implementation of IPLS at 5 Regional PFSA, RHBs, 13 ZHDs, 167 WHO, 820 HC and 3334 health post at all levels of Health facilities
 Review and conduct regular SCM gaps with integrated supportive supervision with different stakeholders.
 Mentoring of high load ART health centers, Hospitals, medium load health centers and actively participate on Catchment area meeting.
 Lead the development process of preparing regional pharmaceutical operation programme in line with the country’s health sector development plan at which regional health bureau, health facilities, woreda health offices, zonal health departments and other relevant bodies have their own stake.
 Mobilize resources required for the implementation of short and long term plans of the core process and the regional pharmaceutical operations programme
 Lead periodic review process of the short and long term plans and regional pharmaceutical operations programme implementation
 Conduct supportive supervision to his/her subordinates and staff and down to the health administrative units and health facilities

My primary responsibilities were:
 I organized A Drug and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) to promote the rational and cost-effective use of medicines
 Leads to prepare Medicines Formulary listing all pharmaceuticals that can be used in the facility. The Formulary is segregated by VEN.
 The hospital ensures that all types of drug transactions and patient-medication related information are properly recorded and documented by different prepared documents.
 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all pharmacy service is prepared. (Preapared a Guide for implementation Auditable pharmaceutical transaction and service)
 By installing DIS He has to access to drug information to both health care providers and patients in order to optimize drug use.
 Policies and procedures for identifying and managing drug use problems, including: monitoring adverse drug reactions.
 A drug procurement policy approved by the DTC that describes methods of quantification, prioritization, drug selection, supplier selection and ordering of pharmaceutical supplies and is in line with the drug list.
 The hospital has a paper-based or computer-based inventory management system to reduce the frequency of stock-outs, wastage, over supply and drug expiry
 The hospital conducts a physical inventory of all pharmaceuticals in the store and each dispensing unit at a minimum twice a year
 The hospital has adequate personnel, equipment, premises and facilities required to store pharmaceutical supplies and carry out compounding, dispensing, and counseling services.
 Pharmaceutical care in the special unit for chronic diseases (HIV, Hypertension, diabetes),

 Patient drug use counseling in a separate outpatient counseling cubicle in the outpatient pharmacy,
