I work at night on a cruise ship with a shift of 10 hours every day without any off for six to nine months. I can finish my workload in 4 hours except embarkation days. I’ve worked on a cruise ship for more than 7 years. My first job was a service crew on a famous fast food chain then a waiter on a 5 star restaurant then after one contract I’ve decided to take my talents at sea.
My primary job as a night auditor is to provide passengers with friendly, personalized service during the night shift. Reconciliation and billing of all Guests and Crew accounts.
My specific duties are as follows;
Become knowledgeable concerning all facets of shipboard organization and services, ports of call and shore excursions.
Ensures a proper hand over from the day shift.
Producing the Night Report for Chief Purser and Hotel Manager
Answering of all telephone calls.
To the maximum extent possible, become aware of each guest name as soon as possible during each cruise.
Being aware of the Room Service Menu
Taking orders/placing of wake up calls by using the guest names.
Receive all executed service checks from bars and other outlets. Posting of all charges in to Fidelio for the passenger accounting. Review the signature and the register reading on each check to ensure proper account posting has been accomplished. Balance all departmental postings each day.
Prepares billing statements for all guests as well as way port debarks.
Double checking of the Passport information.
Credit card slips need to be sorted, checked off and a reminder letter needs to be send to guests who have not registered a Credit card for their account.
Filing of the daily sales checks.
