Job Description:
Housekeeping Utility:
o Work as a team member.
o “Meet and Greet” services.
o Must be correctly dressed when on duty.
o Make sure that all areas in your assigned place of duty are kept clean and tidy.
o Make sure the hygienic program set by the housekeeper is carried out satisfactorily.
o Follow safe work routines and notify supervisor of any dangerous or unsafe place or equipment within your assigned place of duty.
o Whenever questioned by ant guest, all answers should be prompt and polite. Any problem must be reported to the duty officer at once.
o Keep your cabin clean and tidy. No food items, cooking utensils, etc. are allowed in the cabin. Cabin inspections are carried out at irregular hours.
o All meals to be taken in the Crew Mess.
o This is an outline of your duties. You may be called upon to perform other ad-hoc duties when required.
o Please refer to Vessel SMS – Chapter 5 – Hotel Procedures, for further guidance on what your role entails.
o The utility should familiarize him/herself with Company instruction and procedures relevant to his/her position.
o Must be familiar with the ship’s “Emergency Plan”.
o “Muster List”, the ship’s “Code of Conduct” and the “SMS”.
o The substitute for the Utility is at the discretion of the Housekeeper.
Special Duty:
o The working areas are officers’ cabins/Staff cabins, alleyways, staircases, public areas, lifts and public toilets.
o Responsible for all non-food & drinks cabin service required from passengers.
o Responsible for the locking of all pantry and locker doors at night. The same doors to be unlocked between 06:45 – 07:00 hrs.
o The night Steward/ess shall be aware of fire hazards and be on the lookout for beginning fires when he/she makes her rounds any suspicious smell or heat to be reported to Duty Officer immediately.
o Responsible for reporting to Duty Officer any crewmember observed in passenger areas outside their working hours.
o Night Steward/ess responsible for duties allocated to Night Cleaners is carried out as instructed.
Room Service Waiter:
o Work as a team member.

o Reports directly to the Room Service Supervisor.
o Deliver food and beverage orders to passengers’ staterooms in a professional and courteous manner.
o Must possess a thorough knowledge about the food menus and wine lists in order to be able to discuss and suggest to passengers various courses and fine wines in a professional manner.
o The Room Service Attendant is directly responsible for obtaining the appropriate linen, china, glassware, silverware and setting up the room service trays.
o Once contacted be the Room Service Operator, the Room Service Attendant would pick up the food products from the galley and beverages from various location throughout the cruise ship, then would garnish and decorate the dishes and finally would deliver the complete order to the guests stateroom.
o He would politely inquire regarding guests satisfaction in both food quality and service and would address any remarks to the Room Service Supervisor.
o Follows the cruise line guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene and ensures that cleaning and sanitizing of his assigned area is always up to the standards of the cruise line and according to the USPH and or UKPH regulations.
o Would participate in courses, meetings and training programs in order to develop the necessary skills needed for promotion to superior level position.
o Ensures that he enters all food and beverage orders into the ship’s point of sale system.
