Objective
I am a dedicated, patient-focused registered nurse with proven experience in medical/surgical, labor /child birth and neonatal care, pediatrics nursing and disease management areas, community health nursing, and psychiatry. After working for over twenty years as a practical nurse in a busy hospital and Medical clinics in Kenya, I have also practiced as a Kenya Registered Nurse now for Nine years. I now wish to broaden my horizons by working outside the country and achieve more experience; by being involved in the quality health care; that nurses give to patients in their day to day practice.

Responsibilities while a certificate nurse Examples

Nursing care in Medical/Surgical wards, Maternity
wards, pediatric wards

Out patient Department , maternal Child Health and
family planning Unit and pharmacy.

This duties include; Offering bedpans to
patients, feeding patients, taking vital signs i.e.
temperature, pulse and respirations, passing a
Nasogastric tube, passing a urethral catheter, giving
enema, passing a flatus tube, oral toilet, bed
bath, assisted bath, turning patient, lifting
patents, bed making, feeding patients, wound
dressing, scrubbing and assisting in sterile
procedures, suturing minor cut wounds, dispensing drugs
and drugs administration, assisting doctor in Ward
round, monitoring a mother in labour to rule
out normal and abnormal labour, conducting normal
deliveries, care of nursery babies, pre and post
operative care, fixing and monitoring drips, scrubbing
patients rooms, dusting, clinical consultation to less
serious conditions and prescribing drugs to the same as examples among other responsibilities.

Achievements

I have been a  Nurse in Charge  in a clinic where by I had a responsibility of assessing patients’ needs and being able to apply nursing knowledge leading to patient satisfaction and cure.
I had a responsibility scheduling staff duties thus making a duty rooster, monitoring staff performance and work output.
Ensuring the standards of infection control in the unit by maintaining the prescribed standards of infection prevention in the institution.
Receiving and writing report and handing over to the district co-coordinator as required.
I still have the same ability to perform all the said duties as I used to when I was an enrolled nurse; as above.
Assessing, planning and implementation of individual patient care thus enhancing improved Nursing care.

First rotation Medical wards ( 4 years )
Was involved in all areas of medical/ surgical nursing practice: Admission and discharge procedures.

Second rotation: Maternity wards ( 3 Years )
Was involved in patient management in antenatal care, post natal care including care of a caesarean section mother and baby care unit rotation.

Care of antenatal mothers, health education, baby growth monitoring, immunization, heath education and follow up of cases at risk ( thus by home visiting and counseling).

 

 

CAREER  SUMMARY

For continuous career development as required by the nursing profession, I started as a certificate nurse and later upgraded to a Registered nurse as classified in Kenya. My I  line of professionalism entails that I adhere to the professional code of ethics and conduct, respect, human dignity, promote health and care and be very discreet with issue pertaining an organization of which am capable.

I am determined and willing to work and learn from my colleagues and other personalities of good will. Above all, I look forward to respect and obey my employer(s).
