Summary: Over 5 years working in the Communication Industry with experience in Radio Broadcasting. Skills in Information, Education, Communication (IEC) Approaches. Public Relations, Sales and Marketing, Report Writing, Editing and Research.

 

Abstract: The aim of the thesis is to explore if social media worked in the case of “bring back our girls” campaign.

Why it works in some instances such as for Obama and the Egyptian uprisings but failed for Nigeria- it will posit various factors where to blame and explore these factors.

v May 2017- December 2017- communications officer for shire valley project duties included liaising with the village community and liaising with journalists

 

v 2011 June to June 2016- lecturer at university of Botswana in the department of media studies teaching a range of courses from media management, health reporting, radio courses, Public relations and mass communication theories.

v 2010 October – 2011 June- media council of Malawi – Executive Director liaising with various donors and writing project proposals , day to day management and media freedom and freedom of expression duties and upholding ethical integrity of Malawian journalists.

v 2009- April- May, Election Monitoring of Media with Gender Links, South Africa

v 2008- September, Highway Africa Registration Assistant, Grahamstown, Rhodes University for a week. (Registration of delegates and general information help desk assistant, coordination and updating data base)

v 2005- Internship with Nation Publications Limited, Blantyre, Malawi  as a Reporter for three months (Journalist: reporting, writing, interviews, photography)

v 2000 -Presenter / Producer,  News Caster, Assistant head of Presenters with Fm 101 Radio Station, Blantyre, Malawi for two years (News casting, disciplinary producers, chairing meetings, production, presentation, sourcing news from the internet, liaising with site administrator on website, training, interviews and live broadcasts, programme formulation, etc)

v 1999 -Attachment with Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Radio One, Harare for six months (Production, presentation, interviews and formulating programme ideas)
