Mechanical Engineer – Research, Development and Technology Unit   October 2018 – Present

Responsibilities:

·         Becoming a subject matter expert on mechanical systems and components through literature review, modelling, experimentation, and working with others in the domain

·         Identifying opportunities and existing technology in use at other bauxite refineries that will maintain and advance the Refinery as a low-cost alumina producing plant

·         Define and develop strategic mechanical projects to achieve the location’s aspirational goals

·         Manage and coordinate identified strategic projects, from the conceptual stage through to commissioning, hand-over and close-out, and ensuring a smooth transition between all phases of the project

·         Ensure projects are delivered according to approved scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements;

·         Monitoring the project design process to ensure adherence to client requirements, statutory agency requirements and Jamalco design requirements

·         Provide Mechanical Engineering support to other strategic projects, and other areas of the refinery as required

·         Aid with reviewing, evaluating and advising on proposed capital projects as required

·         Planning & Scheduling for Major/Critical Equipment Overhauls in the Digestion and Powerhouse Departments.

·         Reduce Vessel Overhaul Duration and Cost

·         Maintain Department Major Vessel Health Through Long-Term Planning

·         Tracking, Updating and Reporting of Overhauls Daily

·         Budgeting and Evaluation of all Major Vessel Overhauls.

·         Develop annual budget for repairs and maintenance

·         Track and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance schedules for equipment and coordinate follow-up repairs as required.

·         Develop work instructions for routine activities taking into consideration safety, tools, job duration, craft and quality checks.

Achievements:

·         Plan and successfully execute multiple Digester Outages- 24hr Plant Shutdown.

·         Manage Department R&M cost to the effect of savings for 2016 amounting to US$450,000.

·         Steadily maintain the Residual Life on equipment health in the Digestion and Powerhouse Departments between 45% and 50% through proactive planning.
