Thinking of Immigrating to Ontario? Here’s a dose of Good News for you!
The Good News: The three main streams that were stopped, have once again begun to accept applications from hopeful immigrants.
Backgrounder: In May last year, after the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program had seen a sudden rush in the annual allocations, had taken the step to pause three of it’s highly popular immigration streams. This had disappointed many and even seemed like a setback for those who were banking upon these particular streams.
Additionally, to add to the ease and convenience of applicants a fresh approach has been introduced: Applicants can now apply online and enjoy a faster and hassle free process of application.
With the ever increasing digitalization in every field and the high dependability on digital means the authorities feel this application process is much more efficient, faster and it will result in improved customer service. Employers can also easily search for skilled workers much faster and accurately suited to their specific needs.
- Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream
The authorities will begin selecting applications and qualified candidates in the express entry pool. The selected applicants will receive a Notification of Interest that invites them to apply. Along with being a part of the express entry pool, the applicant must have a minimum of 400 CRS points. Receiving the invitation to apply immediately adds 600 points to the present score and will ultimately be invited to apply for Canadian PR.
- International Masters Graduate Stream
This stream is for those who have graduated with a Masters degree from any public funded university in Ontario. A job offer is not a mandate and this stream is not a part of the express entry pool. Applicants residing outside Ontario can apply. Details regarding the language test and the changes regarding it are yet to be declared.
- International PhD Graduate Stream
This stream is for those who have graduated from a PhD program from any of the public funded university in Ontario. A job offer is not a mandate to apply and this stream is not a part of the express entry pool.
The pause in accepting applications actually resulted in greater efficiency in the application process and thus the authorities have decided to pause and reopen the applications whenever necessary. This year, 2017, the total allocation is 6,000, including applications from all other streams offered by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.
